00 stepside cold air&intake swap???
#1
I just got a free 00 stepside run and drives all stock was looking to change a couple minor things cold air intake and do a intake swap was wondering if I'll need to retune it if I do so I've been a old school SBC guy and new to ls motors I live in the FL keys and I'm very limited to what I can do in town without having to take it to Miami to find a tuner any help would be appreciated

Yes.
The air intake itself not really a needed tune for because most if not all drop in units are just new piping and the stock MAF sensor never changes because it's it own specific size. The stock intake isn't a huge bottle neck when you are basically stock though, look into a intake tube from airaid instead and mod the factory airbox. It'll save you some coin for sure.
The intake manifold itself will require custom tuning no matter what. Not sure what manifold you had in mind but anything larger than stock or anything from a car like a LS6 intake would require a complete re-tune of the airflow and tuning tables in the computer.

Having owned a tuner like HP Tuners that does everything, no I would not suggest anyone buy a handheld unit like diablo or something like a hyper tuner.
Maybe someone is local to your that could do tuning for you or break down and spend the 500-650 for a tuner and learn it yourself.
