That's how they planned it. If it weren't subsidized, E85 would probably cost a lot more than gasoline.

Imagine the irony betw. the above 2 statements.

I tried an experiment. No tuning, & I don't have a flex-fuel. Call it stupid or whatever, but I did it. Back then gas was ~$2.50, E85 was ~.30 less. My MPG went down near that figure or ~25%. I figured it out @ 16MPG on regular ole gas. Cause back then I'd get 16.6-17.1, no matter how much I mashed it. 18 if I was really Grannying it.

When I calculated, it was ~12 MPG on E85.

Whatever I figured, it was gonna cost me .01 more to run E85.
So I went back to normal gas.

So ya, a wash.

E85 has another benefit tho, & it ain't mileage.

Ethanol is stupid. I agree on that.

But the point of it was to create a fuel that doesn't rely on "foreign oil," not to make a cheaper gas... Problem is, they created a fuel that relies on subsidies.

Compare it to the "Green Mountain Energy" power company. Its more expensive, but you get the feel-good tingle that you are being a greenie.

Yeah its 3.70 here and im screwed. Get like 12 mpg if im lucky.

as for ethanol using corn is stupid. if they could work out this whole switchgrass and crop waste idea for ethanol it would be better.

I personally like ethanol its race gas and great for forced induction guys like me. Very knock resistant. but as for saving money. you won't by switching.

if anything you can feel good about yourself for emitting less pollutants into the atmosphere

I get that. But not relying on foreign oil would be a little easier pill to swallow if it was cheaper.

$3.70 for what, E85?
Well, when we can run em on crabgrass, I'll be OK. Cause our lawn will soon be full of the weeds more than the actual grass.
