1996 ExCab 2WD LQ9 4L80 for sale
#1
1996 Chevrolet Extended Cab (no 3rd door) 2 wheel drive. Red/Silver/Gray Interior.
2003 Cadillac Escalade LQ9 LS based 6.0 liter HO Engine with fuel injection and all accessories. Harness and PCM clipped and programmed by Jesse at Wait For Me Performance. Engine mounted on Dirty Dingo Engine Mounts and All new Energy Suspension Factory Engine/Trans Mounts. Long tube headers in truck, manifolds in the bed for future turbo. 2004 4L80 Transmission with correct flywheel and crossmember modification installed in truck. Rear end is 3.42. Truck had 170K on it, Engine had 67K on it. Jesse verified that it is an LQ9 6.0.
I bought the truck and pulled the engine/trans. The interior was horrible, so I steam cleaned the seats and pulled the cab interior down to bare metal. I sound deadened the entire cab and put new head liner, Alpine/Boston Accoustics Stereo, Deadener, and carpet in. The plastic was all removed, padding trashed, cleaned, and re-padded. Also bought new door hinges, door handles, headlights, taillights, and a crapload of other stuff. Interior will be pretty good. Seats are still in the garage. The hood was killed, so I have a brand new 2 inch cowl hood in the garage for it. I put brand new black 17 inch MB wheels and brand new Firestone tires on it…not 1 mile on them.
Truck needs fuel line run and passenger header installed to run. Have run on starting fluid in truck. Probably half of the wiring needs to be completed correctly. I would add a stronger fuel pump. I’m told the 1996 radiator is plenty and the engine has the 03 Caddy fan, but the wiring harness is also programmed to run dual electric fans.
So I paid $2k for the truck, $1.5k with LCM for interior, lights, hood, hinges, handles, $600 at Best Buy for stereo, $3K for the engine and transmission to my door, $500 for harness work and programming, $150 for wireless gas pedal, $1,300 for wheels and tires $200 for a new starter, $1k for various installation work…and God knows what for little stuff and trips to Summit Racing. It’s a good truck, and a pretty cool project. The goal was to paint it and use it as a cool old truck. Other things have happened and I find myself in a position where I shouldn’t spend the money to complete the project. If I were to do it, there’s 10 hours of perfecting wires to go, corvette fuel lines, TH400 driveshaft yolk, Wahlberg fuel pump, bending the right header to clear tranny, exhaust from headers back, putting seats and door cards back in, spray in beadliner, shocks, probably a custom aluminum radiator, a few dents to remove, and paint. You could just run braided fuel line, aftermarket gauges, bend the headers, complete the exhaust, toss in a TH400 Yolk and drive it.
I hope I’ve explained it well enough. It’s not a show truck yet, but it’s pretty cool. Contact me with questions. I have just at 10K in the truck. I estimate $1.5k to finish, 6K to make it very nice. Asking 7K the way it sits. Doug Clark (309)261-2023 douglaswclark@yahoo.com
