Really? $17M for a human to run a co.? I'm sorry, but CEOs make way too much. Which oil co. do u work for?I'm for employing more people in any/ all or various industries. I put that comment to say I work for a co. that squeezes all it can, yet I disagree w/ how it treats its workers.

U wanna pay someone better than most? Pay the cops, nurses & firefighters that put their life on the line. The teachers that should be educating "our future". Teachers don't make squat. Sports figures deserve more than a firefighter?

The people like Grippy & others in the military. Pay them. The people protecting this country deserve better. And those educating it too.

The halo people (entertainers, be it a sports figure or a CEO) draw more attn than a homeless, unemployed that wants to work, or a poor person. Polarization continues & will do so.

Don't misinterpret, I'm for someone making a good std. of living, but risk isn't always fairly rewarded. There's a lot of excessive greed in the world. Actions & comments demonstrate that.

This is still the best place to be. I think there's more good than bad.

I'll climb down now.

They get paid as much as they do because thats what the market will bear. Their are millions that can do the work of a cop, nurse or teacher. There are only a handful that can do the hit a major league fastball or catch a football while out running 99.999% of the population. Unfortunately, our culture hangs onto every breath of celebrities. The military pay leaves alot to be desired also. If you are smart with your money and stick it out it can be a great carreer and you can retire early with some awesome benefits.

like mark said in a previous post how much you think the ceo of disney makes or some stock company. i work for a oil service company and you would not believe what the oil companies donate for the state counties and towns ceo of chesapeak just bought the seatle super sonics and bringing them to okc. chesapeak also donates alot of money to surrounding towns and schools. a company here in my town recently rebuilt the football field and are building a new track facility. for each time they donate money its a big tax break..
