I hear ya man. There was one year I almost got the 4th off. I was scheduled to have it off, and I was very excited because it was the first one I had off in 8 years. My boss decided to change around our days off on July 3rd, and I had to work. Now I just get used to it, and am thankful I don't get a hangover.

I hate working holidays/weekends, It is one of the things I like about being in a union..on a very lopsided list..The employer does NOT like paying 3x at my work as it gets real expensive...

Were closed most holidays... I get plenty of 3 day weekends which is a welcome change from how it used to be.

Workin too, but it will be double-time. I worked Easter, New Year's, Christmas, and Thanksgiving, and will again this year too, without a doubt. The only holiday I've had off in the last year was last Labor Day, and that was a coincidence: I took a four-day weekend for my anniversary.

im on call 24-7-365, you have good weeks and then you have BAD weeks lol, and do to the nature of my trade the holidays are always busy!

For example: two weeks ago my crew worked 9 days in a row and we pulled in 103 hours and which 70 hours of that was double time, but it was split up across 3 different pay periods...so we weren't completely bent over the chair by uncle sam

I'm "off"... but I'm always on call, weekend after next I've got to work through the weekend, probably 10-12 hour days.
