please don't get a 6.0 gas engine for a DD. the comapny that my father contracts to has a fleet of them and they all get really shitty gas mileage.

Wow! Most people on here don't say that, Dewey! IDK if I've ever seen that in writing. Not that way at least. Most guys are clamoring for a 6L!

not the way it comes stock in a 3/4 ton...
if you buy a newer truck and want a bigger engine than a 5.3, either get a 6.2 or 6.6

just stick with the 6.0 and no monthly payment! your truck will last you, not to mention the boat you thought about buying!!! but for sure if you are going to get a 3/4 ton/1 ton get a duramax with the allison tranny. thats a combo FTW! do not (as dewey said) get a 6.0 in a 3/4 ton for a DD you will regret the gas milage with it!

The newer truck bug hit me and after the weekend went by I have a better picture of the idea. I just need to finish my project and re-evaluate in a year once wifes benz is paid off like originaly planned.

I am over the newer tuck high now. I read up on so many posts where people are selling them cheap due the mpg. The one I was looking at was a 2008 ext cab short bed for $14k.

What I meant is that I read on several posts on other websites where due to the low mpg they are selling them as well as the downed economy.

MPG shouldn't be any worse than the '99-07 Classic. Actually they should be better as we move FWD. 3.23s are std. gear for mileage instead of whatever. However, new ones are supposed to use that new EPA actual rating that's more accurate.

Either that, or the people buyin them shouldn't but them in the 1st place if they can't afford them. People livin beyond their means.
