Flowmaster 50 series. 3inch single in dual 4 inch outlets (I modified the outlets by cutting the welds on the outlets which is exactly 4 inches around an put two 4 inch pipes angled down on it).
Attachment 100522
The outlets were round but once I lowerd it the road took care of putting an angled cut on them for me.

Lol the truck is just 4/6 drop but I did the muffler modification before the drop and after I dropped it when I hit a good dip ( in east texas there are a lot) it kinda clearances itself. Haha

TheBeeblebrox 08-06-2014 08:47 PM

I've got a 70 series, hacked it off just after the muffler because it kept hitting the axle after I did the flip kit.

Don't have any vids but I like the sound from idle(500) to about 1600rpm after that it just drones lol

I agree. That looks great.

Just outta curiosity, how does a chambered Flowmaster muffler flow compared to a straight through design like a Magnaflow?

This is an often misunderstood concept as many people view a cross-section of our mufflers and assume that they hinder the flow of exhaust gases due to the internal configuration. This could not be further from the truth. Flowmaster’s patented “chambered” design is what sets it apart from any other muffler. The theory behind the design is based on basic principles of physics. By splitting the exhaust stream (exhaust pulses & sound energy) and then recombining them in another chamber, the collision of energy cancels the sound waves, which creates a low pressure area in its place. This resulting low pressure area then helps scavenge/accelerate the following pulses into the muffler and out the tailpipe resulting in a more efficient and cleaner burn, which means more power. Straight through mufflers consist of a perforated flow tube, and rely on packing materials such as steel wool or fiberglass to simply absorb sound. While these mufflers may improve performance by using larger internal flow tubes, the packing materials will burn or blow out over time which results in an increase of sound until it eventually becomes ineffective. The Flowmaster design uses no packing, and therefore will maintain its sound control over the life of the product.

What is your Avalanche running in the quarter? That thing looks pretty quick!

TIM Z 08-11-2014 11:27 AM

Watch the video further and you will find out .

Nice run Dr X !

FlowmasterMufflers 08-11-2014 01:14 PM

Wow! Just watched it again. The first time I was skipping around. That is a serious Avalanche!

DrX 08-11-2014 08:14 PM

Yeah, 10.99 first time out. Hopefully a little better once I get things setup right and work on the tune. Not sure I want to crank up the boost.

Not bad at all! I can't wait to see what happens once you get everything dialed in.

If you have been looking for a Flowmaster exhaust system for your truck, now is the time to pull the trigger. To find out how you can receive up to $75 off of the purchase of any qualifying Flowmaster product in the month of July, give us a call at (707) 544-4761.

outlawz2004 07-14-2015 10:16 AM

Ran a 10 series on my hemi ram. Sounded like a screaming cougar LOL. Really didn't sound that great at WOT, sounded better with straight pipes. I ran the original 40 series on a 4.0L ford ranger that sounded good for a V6, and ran dual 40s on my mustang.

lo4x4 07-14-2015 08:34 PM

I just redid my exhaust with a flowmaster super forty and a remote exhaust cut out valve dumping right before the flowmaster...quiet until I step on it or super loud...best of both worlds

Chaney3000 10-25-2015 08:50 PM

Any specials running on flowmasters this month or next? I've been running flow masters on all my cars for decades. Going to be get some for my new SS silverado.

Pair of 2.5" super 44's.... Ran silverado ss exhaust from manifolds back.... Build an h pipe to make up the difference in the length of the flowmaster vs the muffler that cane with the exhasut kit i bought and didnt like the way the muffler sounded(which if flowmaster made a dual kit for the silverado ss, i would have bought!!!)... Also running a catback flowmaster kit on my 2010 camaro ls3/m6.... Need find pics of both systems!!!Also planning to run flowmaster cat back on my yukon eventually!!

Nice! Are you still running the same exhaust setup?

A few years back,
Alumin-ized steel, (crap), First gen. American Thunder, (with resonator), CAT back, (1 in / 2 out), MD VEIP compliant with Diablo 92 Tune. ECSB 5.3 L 4.56's Circle D 3200/278mm

American Thunder in SS...., although now they're exhausting 400 whp. I contacted FLOWMASTER Customer tech assistance and complained that I didn't like the "new exhaust note" at all. (Reference: (circa 1970) 1 7/8" straight pipes or glass packs)

Short version.....Your Tech was right on it. After I expressed my dis-satisfaction with and listed all the performance improvements said in one breath the acoustic adjustment I was now looking for was the New PRO1 as a resonator!

NAILED IT!!

Wow! No good deed should go unpunished....

montecarloss 10-26-2015 11:36 PM

am running this setup on this now

Biggest thing with my system i am not happy with right now is the tailpipes, still need some short aftermarket "hi-flow" cats!!!

I would like to see some solid unbias data on that, pressures temperatures flow volumes and velocitys vs a magnaflow. Also you said the flowmaster maintains it sound control over the life of the product, doesn't a packed muffler do this also? Sorry but that sentence sounds like a marketing statement that basically means nothing

Wolftrk99 10-30-2015 11:30 PM

Packing is sound deadener, like insulation usually some sort of fiberglass type material that over time with heat and the exhaust gases changes density, shape and will come apart.... Have seen packing blown out of a muffler... Ambient temp can even change the sound of a packed muffler.....at least thats my understanding from what ive seen and research ive done!!

Chaney3000 10-31-2015 03:08 PM

I'm looking at getting some stainless 40 series for my 03 SS. I have always ran flowmasters on my vehicles. I didn't like 44 series on my gmc3500 as much as the 40s I normally get. It lost tone at WOT on the 44 series and sounded like crappy flapping metal. If you ease on acceleration or normal riding, it sounded great but pin it and it sounded like hot garbage.

Anyway, I'm going back to the 40 series 3" in/out, headers, no cats

ambient temp changes shouldn't even be mentioned, everything from fuel delivery and spark changes due to it which changes the exhaust note. ever wondered why your vehicle sounded so much better when it is cold outside? also almost anytime that I've seen packing blown out it was because someone wanted it that way and heated the crap out of it and stuck a hose in the exhaust. Id be willing to bet the life of a chambered muffler is similar to a packed perforated tube muffler.
