Where do you draw the line at to what can be posting using links and what can not? I mean cmon. I feel we all are VERY LOYAL to this site, but some things are unreal. How about all the people posting about obx headers, HID lights ect ect. Unreal. I pimp the sponsors out to alot of people in regards to threads and helping. But seriously am I going to get a infraction for posting up another place to buy stuff on a product(make) that the sponsors do not even sell C mon that is just petty. So is it ok to name a place and not post the actual link? I am curious to here what everybody else thinks about this. No doubt it will be deleted, if a MOD would care to send me a PM on what is what that would be great, but I ask you let the thread stay going. No disrespect to the sponsors but who DOESN"T LOOK for the cheapest place to buy things.

 

There are constant discussions in the admin section about the grey areas and how to go about correcting them.
These guys try their absolute best at being fair and following the rules.
Its not easy.
Just gotta look at it from both sides.

 

I can understand, I do/am looking at it that way. Yes the sight has sponsors, YES PEOPLE BUY ALOT FROM THEM, YES I BUY FROM THEM. IB has a million add's that are infact paying for the sight now aswell. We are all here to help out each other, but some of this is just getting absurd.

 

I understand your frustration John. I really do. That's why I will be working on a sticky to show how to go about starting threads to discuss non sponsor subjects. I feel the rules and the way the site sometimes is moderated may not be clear to the general population, hell its not even all that clear to me. Thus, we are working on a thread that will be posted here to show how to go about doing it. This site is about sharing info, and with the sponsor structure in place it makes it difficult to do that sometimes but it is necessary to keep the servers running.

Over the last few days there has been more discussion in the admin section than in a normal entire month. Believe it or not, it is very difficult to keep the general public happy while enforcing the rules of IB.

This thread won't be deleted as long as it stays constructive. While I didn't delete the thread nor did I give you the infraction, technically what that moderator did was correct. You know you're not suppose to post direct links to stuff like that. Springs are sold by quite a few sponsors. As I said earlier I will be working on a "how-to" on posting up discuwsion threads about non-sponsors so that information can be shared and the doors stay open on the site.

Many of the things we "have" to do as moderators I don't necessarily agree with and to a certain extent that's why I like the grey area being so big but obviously the link thing is a problem and I will try my best to explain it in a easy to understand way.

Alright, got it. No more between the two of you in public. We are working on it. It is a touchy situation WAAAAAY beyond what the public knows. Give us a chance tonight and tomorrow to work out the details.

 

No idea where to even start with the what if game. I don't know how the rules would be, I do know it wouldn't be a successful site if everyone had to pay. I would vote against it being a pay site even if I was grandfathered in.
