Boating is the best hobby yet I have got into.......but it is expensive, especially if you want to go fast. I played a little this year since I got rid of my big boat. Picked up a sea-doo speedster, fun toy but got boring quick. Picked up a sea-doo challenger with the 240 Mercury engine and sport jet, nice family rec boat. Got tired of not having anything fast on the water. The garage is full of a 17 foot hand-made hydro right now made out of carbon fiber/luan and a little epoxy with a 300 Merc racing outboard bolted on the back of it. Got to finish my steering, gauges, fuel tank, and interior before it hits the water here soon, hopefully within a month or so it will be complete. The hull, before anything was done to it weighed 370 lbs. I imagine fully rigged it should top out at about 1150-1200 lbs, goal was 1300 lbs. max, so we will see soon. Looking for well over 100 MPH easily on this one. Been into boats all my life, so some of the wrenching I can do, it saves a ton of cash in the end.
