I've riden a **** load of dirt bikes, but not too much on street bikes, but I have a lot of friends that have one. The most common advice I've heard (I've come very close to getting one a few times) is to get at least a 750. I'm 6' and was about 175, looking at the GSXR600 and R6. I liked the R6, but all my riding friends said as soon as I learn to ride, I'll hate it wishing I had gone bigger.
A friend of mine just got his first bike '05 GSXR1000
And hes about 5'8 and weight about 160. He loves it. Personally I'd get the R6 if you are dead set on a 600, but think about stepping up to a 750 at your size seriously. Its like building a 5.3 then stepping up to a 6.0 (or 7.0 in your case)

Yeah, thats what you need.
The GSXR600 I rode was uncomfortable because it is set up for racing and the foot pegs are really high and all your weight is on you arms. I sat on a Katana and it was much more comfortable. The difference was like riding in a porche vs riding in a cadillac. The GSXR is a little faster but the Katana is plenty fast. You could actually control it a little better and better for the novice. The gsxr's power band was just rediculous for an every day bike.

On a sportbike you have no choice but to be all bent over bro, you'll get used to it, besides, if you've already road a gixxer than you know whats up.
20k is alot for a used sportbike, I'd look in the 5-10k range mileage wise.
The best bet is to find a bike someones had one for a long time and hardly ridden or someone who has all service reciepts(detail oriented).

i bought mine brand new with zero miles on it. i got it at a place in valdosta but my ole lady works at a honda shop and the owner of that has a kawasaki store also and i can get you one for like cost plus a little bit. im 6'1 240 and the zzr600 rode good and handled well and it still hauled *** pretty good. 48 miles to the gallon also.

Sweet I may end up with a brand new cbr when the time comes. If you dont mind Steven could you find out ballpark what a CBR 600 would cost me out the door. No rush it will be 2-3 months before I buy one. I figured I might be able to get a good deal on a used one this time of year cause alot of people dont ride them due to the weather. And Mark it is jsut what I need. Somethin with better gas mileage and to have fun with.
Or you could jsut give me your Harley
Im going to start looking at a few at the dealerships and see what really fits me. Do you have to have a bike license in AL in texas you do. But no helmet law there

ill check into it but to give you an idea the bike i had list for 7199 and cost on it was 6399. ashlee's mom said they could sale it at cost and still make money because of stuff on the back end that people dont know about like hold backs and stuff. i personally dont like the honda 600's cause of the dang 1 piece seats. i rode a 06 and it felt alot narrower and you were stretched out more than on the kawasaki.
