2004 Silverado 4.8
All SS cladding, seats, gauge cluster
LT headers
Tuned by Izzy Performance
Circle D 3400 Stall
14 bolt rear diff
Couple amps and subs
lowered 4/6

I've driven it less than 100 miles since the purchase in February

I think this may be the truck I came closest to purchasing the first of the year. Did it have billet wheels on it? Fresh paint about a year old?

the SS clone is nicer than 95% of any vehicle that most kids BUY for themselves at that age. 4.8 is still enough to get him in trouble, but not kill himself or another person. this is all said without knowing your son or his maturity level. i was hell on wheels when i was 16. still am lol
Very good point!! We live 2 blocks from the school so maybe a piece of **** as a commuter? He knows he wont get it if he doesnt go to college so maybe wait till college is over? We'll see

Yup, if the car dont pan out tomorrow, I will eventually get around to dropping a 6.0 on nitrous in it. This truck is gutless.

Just curious why you decided against it?

Keep the SS, but it should remain a special occasion vehicle. The value will increase for years to come I bet. I say sell the red truck. Then find a V6 or 4.8 beater. Help your son build it slow and teach him the right way. Do the exterior stuff with him when he gets old enough to care(14 or 15 for me). Let him pick the color and little things like that. When he is 16 start doing the interior/stereo which will be fun, but keep him out of trouble. Maybe make him pay for the go fast stuff until he has a couple years driving experience. (I would guess he won't be able to afford to go too fast) Then help him go fast as he gets older. Give him the SS for graduation. Basically I just outlined my own plan, but seems like it might get you a vette and a project for the son. I think the best way to get kids interested in cars is get them hands on early. Every little puke who is handed a nicely built vehicle seems to not appreciate it and doesn't get involved in the sport.

There we're several reasons honestly. If I remember correctly he wasn't on any forums and sending him money to purchase the truck ''sight unseen'' kinda made me nervous.

I've got a NICE engine from my wrecked 95' that I wanted to drop in it.
