Test Drove 05 GTO
Me and my brother were out kicking around this afternoon and decided to go see the new gto's. There were 2 05s still on the lot, one red and one black. After shooting the salesman for a few minutes(who actually seemed knowlegable for once) he told us we could take it out. They were both auto and had the ls2. We took out the black one, im surprised he didnt ride with us since he didnt make a copy of our drivers id or insurance cards(especially since im 23 and my bro is 21). Anyway, we hit the road and as soon as we left my brother nailed it. I thought it felt pretty good since its pretty heavy and stock, but i guess i was just expecting alittle more out of the ls2. Then again, it only had 70 miles on it and me and my brother are not small. The ride was extremely smooth compared to all of the fbodys ive been in and i love the ride hieght and how you sit inside. Plenty of leg room for us(6'1"+, and 250lbs+ haha). I dont mean to make it sound slow or anything, the quiet exhaust and smooth ride tamed the SOTP meter down some, plus, im not sure of the gearing. I do know that the factory tranny would chirp second everytime which i was surprised about. I know my brother is wanting to trade his 03 SSS in now, i think he has the bug for one. They have these 05s marked down to 30k, which im sure they would come off of some since thats what was on the windshield. We didnt really talk price, just wanted to drive..I loved the dash and gauges also, nice looking red face gauges. All in all i liked the car alot.

I drove an 04 M6 today, VERY stout car. It was my cousins, he had it dyno'ed in raleigh a couple weeks ago and it put 325 to the ground w/just a cold air intake. The guys said he probably has a factory freak b/c there were some LS2's that wouldn't even putting that to the ground. But like i said, it was extremely stout. We should have a race set up in a couple weeks, me on the juice him on the motor, should be a very interesting outcome.

M6 GTOs are cars that i would consider most in need of a short throw shifter. and yeah even the LS1 ones are very stout. I wonder what the LS2 ones put to the ground? around 350 i imagine?
