Tell me why I shouldn't.

Don't get me wrong, I'm they can be used fine for DD. I did mine that way. But It was just a pain in the *** to get my long legged *** in and out of the damn thing. I loved the t-tops, fast and very fun car to drive. I'd love and fully plan to own another one someday, but it won't be my primary mode of transpo.
I don't necessarily need the use of a truck, I just like to have it when I need it.

What are the odds that you'd leave it alone? At first you'd just say "full exhaust and I'm done", then "just a small cam", and next thing you know you're stranded on the side of the road late for work because the wiring your nitrous solenoid snagged in your blower belt making you burn a piston when you raced some dude in a new Mustang.
Lots of fun, for sure, but highly problematic as a DD.

I had a 97 z28 for about 3 years that I drove everyday and I would have to say that I wouldnt do it again. It was very fun, especially for a 19 year old, but im a big guy and with a 6speed it just got old. I would take another one in a heartbeat, but I want it as a secondary vehicle. However, if you really want one I say go ahead, I know alot of people that use them as DD's.

The chance that I would leave a t/a alone = 0
The chance I will leave the truck alone = 0 (this is a performance truck board)
I would have done more already if I had the money.

Well, FWIW here are my thoughts:
1: Yeah, your buddys will say "sure you can borrow my truck anytime" until you really need to borrow it, then the excuses will pile up. Not dissing your friends, mind you, it's just that I've been down that road too many times myself, and is the reason I have my own truck.
2: Having a fast WS6 is like growing weeds. Anyone can do it. You're at a gathering and you say "yeah, my WS6 runs xx in the quarter mile", you'll hear either "what's a WS6? is that some kind of sports car?" or "so?, my uncle's brother-in-laws' third cousin twice removed and once put back has one and it goes 3 seconds faster!". Having a fast truck OTOH is like growing palm trees in Canada. Sure it's a lot of work, but people are impressed because they don't expect it, and it becomes a great conversation piece.
Do whatever you want, but this is my 2¢.
