Stay Maggie or change to turbo
Been kicking around the idea- truck is boring to me and the 65e seems to be letting me down with the sc3000 yank in it. 4th gear I can't even run into boost with truck raising Rpms and trans seems to be slipping/ making horrible noises - makes me upset sooo I'm thinking this
This truck was sweet with just the milled heads -tr220 cam and 3200 stall- but since the blower it's not much faster imo. Running (8-9 psi) Maybe .5 sec in quarter mile. (13.59 n/a to 13:17 boosted some spin) Either put arp head studs on with ls9 head gaskets and pulley down and run more boost out of this mp122HH on the 5.3- change trans out to a 80e with 3k stall Or take another 5.3 and put it in stock except adding head studs and gaskets and selling Maggie to pay for turbo kit. What's the max these MAF can handle? 12,500 hz? I think I see 10,700 now if I recall. Wonder if the MAF will handle the smaller pulley |
If 99-07 body style, ditch the MAF and just run speed density.

Last play was a ATS-V rolling from 55 and he ate me alive - still had dealer stickers in window. Just was expecting way more out of this blower- I think my whole combo is wrong or need a way better tune ontop of it all - Nelson will only tune MAF via mail order will not do SD |
If 8-9 psi only got you another .5 then something is off.
Get a good trans in there, just go 80e and be done . Then finish it off with a good tune. |

I would do a shift kit if your just looking to run a stocker.

For the cam though tr220-12 ditch or leave it? While I have the heads off should I switch to non milled or get some 799 or 243 or 317 milled? |
I'm with the others, you bolted on a blower at 8-9 lbs of boost and it did nothing for your seat of the pants..........That should have been a very nice increase in power and should be a tire roasting blast to drive.
I'd make sure everything is working right first before bailing on the set up. If something is wrong.....bolting a turbo on isn't gonna do anything but cause even more headaches IMO. |

So I'm wondering, didn't u change your rear gear when goin from N/A to Maggie? Or stall? In other words, other than what it took to make the blower run smooth, did u change out anything that would've offset the potential gains from goin boosted? If it's not running right, as my truck isn't, ya, I wanna add more power, but I 1st gotta find what's up w/ my truck. Can u actually run w/ any of the local trucks? I'm guessing not. :punch: |
That 220/220-112 will work but there are a lot better options for your setup. That cam is designed to be a good 5.3 NA cam IMO. Depending on some details we could point you to a good cam choice.
