Default In the spirit of polishing things

I polish natural stone for a living. Granite counters, marble floors etc. so I was kinda eyeing my taillights one day and they were looking a little worn.

I wet sanded with 2000, 3000 then polished with a machine on 600 RPM. Same machine I use for stone counters. Its almost exactly like polishing marble.

I used Poor Boy's compounds. Really light with the first one, just to get rid of the sandpaper pattern. then the 2.5, then the #1 nice and slow.

this is what they looked like

this is after 2000. all the little spotty looking things are low spots. gotta get these out before going to 3000

Satin taillights! this is after the 3000 was completed.

headlights are next. I might grind that nub off on the lense

Very nice man, they look very sexy and shiny!

When i first polished my stock tailights i just used a wool pad and some cutting compound, then a foam pad and some polishing creme, came out damn near similar.

Nice Job!

thanks guys. Total time was about 1.5 hours

I found it was easiest to remove them for sanding, then reinstall for polishing.
