The idea of a break in period is a common misconception Shops that do below par work will give you break in instructions.So that if there is a problem they have a out on warranty by saying you didn't break them in properly.
On the other hand I do take it easy at first with new gears to make sure everything is working as it should.This only lasts for bout 10 miles or so.

I also have new gears with an eaton locker on mine i have 350 miles and barely started to get on the gas i have done a couple of WOT from a roll and let off at about 90 mph but it sure does hook alot nicer with the 3.73's than my old shitty 3.23's once i reach the 500 mile mark time for some new oil and a lil bit more WOT........
