I drove one the other night to test out the DOD engine.

It felt like a normal 5.3L in a big *** truck. The info center has a display that tells you when it's in V4 or V8 mode. When it would switch to 4cylinder mode you could barely hear a slight change in the exhaust. The exhaust was real quiet so it was hard to hear the change. The transition is absolutely flawless though, if it wasn't for the display and the slight exhaust note change I would've never known it had switched.

As far as I know it is all in the programming.. the blower is the same.
