Default Quick Need Help on 220v wiring

Gotta new welder and im no electrician. the welder I got has a different plug in. So I bought the female plug in for it and was just going to put that on my extension cord that way I dont have to redo everything. I know which wire is the ground but the other 2 HOT wires, do they have a specific side they go to?

I don't think you should run a 220 on a 110 cord you dangerous bastard. Didn't you learn anything about safety when you got metal in your eye? Go buy a 220 cord

if you run 220v through a 110 cord or evan outlet you will be blowing the breaker about every 30 seconds and yes green is ground
Black = Hot
White = Neutral
Green = Ground

How many amps is your welder going to require?
remember that 110v x 15amp cord = 1650 assuming your cord is rated at 15amps. Your welder is going to have to pull less than 7.5amps to keep the cord from burning up. 1650/220=7.5a

10 ga for 30amps. For 2 phase 220 the hots don't matter which position they go in. The neutral should be in the middle. Sounds like you don't have a ground.

You need a 3 conductor cord with a ground.
