Default possible candidate for 408...?

http://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/1880867387.html

Talked to the guy, he said he knows its not an LS2, he just used that to rack up some views for his ad. Engine was damaged initially, he didn't know how. The shop he works for pulled it because it was going to be cheaper to replace the engine rather than repair it. Apparently the cam was pitted, and the lifters were in shambles. Again, don't know how it happened... But the cam and lifters were replaced and he says it runs now.

Thoughts, opinions?

I'd skip it. You're taking a chance of that engine being in worse shape than this guy says. "LS2 out of a 2000 silverado"? He's looking to **** someone who doesn't know anything over.

If I had an NNBS, I'd get the money together for a 6.2 thats running.

My instinct isn't telling me no, I just don't know exactly how much a used engine like this is worth. Good thing is, I know a few things, so I won't be getting fucked over. He says it runs, so that's good already. All I need is an engine that turns over. Everything except the block and heads will be replaced. It won't be a rushed or overnight thing, either.

Yes that looks like an iron headed 6 litre. I wouldn't buy that man, keep an eye out for other deals.

Apparently I can get a block new from GM for near the same price. So I will have to pass up this one..
