Oil 77.70 a barrel and droping

well at one time it was called compatition and gas wars was on to get your dollar at the pump charging the lowest price.
then came rich people, they invested in the oil companies enough to get elected on the board.
then the rich people figured out that their invested in all oil companies and at war with them selves, so they ended the gas war and started charging the same price for gas no matter where you went to fill up.
that is when the compatition formed a union, that is why it was stated they all pay the same price so they all charge the same price.
but it was listed witch company did not buy forgeon oil, even though oil was going for 150 a barrel from over seas, sweet texas crude was selling for much lower, but the company was charging the same price at the pump as the rest that bought from over seas.
i will give an example, on one hand we have the energizer bunny, on the other we have deracell the copper top, both are in compatition with each other.
but then again it is all one company because one owns the other.
the oil companies are the same way, when a company sells stock, and a group gets controling intrest of the stock, in a way they own the company.
when the same group gets controling intrest in all oil companies, their is no more compatition between them, in a way a union has been formed by owner ship of stock holders.

The majority of oil companies profits ARE NOT from Gasoline! Gas is the byproduct of refinery and before the invention of the internal combustion engine was waste. Do a quick GOOGLE of gas yield per barrel of oil. Think of all the products we use on a daily basis the contain petroleum? It's shocking to see how many industries and products are reliant on the oil business. Taxes per gallon are another big issue, look up how much you pay in your state/locality in taxes on gas. Oil companies just like any other business are in business to make a profit, be it Exxon, Wal-mart or the corner mom-n-pop burger joint. Publically traded companies owe it to there shareholders to make profits and small business owners have to to survive. If you are in a company 401k,IRA, Mutual fund etc.... Than you more than likely also own some amount of stock in an oil company. So see we are all to blame in some manner or another for price at the pump. It's not justs "Big Oil" it's Greed that controls this country and it's economy and when the bubble bursts as it recently has everyone starts pointing fingers at who's to blame and the truth is we are all to blame! That's my .02 and accept my responsibility for part.

Well that's pretty much how it works. Let the oil business go through what the housing/banking market is right now and see where it put's everyday folks like us.
On another note, if you had invested 1000 in Delta airlines a year ago today you would have $16 bucks, In Merril Lynch $5 bucks, in Lerman you'd have nothing. If you took that same 1000 and bought beer and drank it and recycled the bottles and cans? $214 and a bunch of nights you can't remember

Not from a e-mail. Admitted it was qouted from a media source. Aluminum was .70 a pound in my area last I sold some about 2 months ago. Also I would take into thought that some states have a glass bottle recycling program. My attempt was also just to make a point as to the state of our current economy.

Exactly.
How about holding tankers offshore until the market demand is higher and then saying there is a shortage or a natural disaster, then charge outragous prices for it. Why does the price of gas skyrocket and the pumps reflect it that day, yet the cost of oil now is cheaper and you barely see a reflection in the pump prices for two weeks. How about during a hurricane, they drive up the price for a gallon even before a storm hits. What about deisel, trucks have ran off crude deisel for how many years? Now all of a sudden it needs an additive so we have to charge more for it. IMO the oil companies saw they were missing out on a large profit with goods being trucked across country, and now their greed reflects in everything we buy or use. We get hit at the store, at the gas pump, and on our utility bills. Thats it for tonight, I am getting off work here shortly, thanks for the interesting conversation and I apologize if I offended anyone.

if you think about it 1 pound is not that much.
the price on cans has always been inbetween copper and aluminum.
