Default Need ideas on how to get a gun safe out of the bed of my truck

After I get everything lined out with the truck Im going to pick up a 34 gun safe which weighs in at 930#s. I dont have the slightest clue how to get it out without screwing it up. It will be laying on its back in the bed of the truck. I dont think the tailgate can support 1000#s directly on it. I have an engien hoist but I dont know how I would be able to pick the damn thing up. Any suggestions are welcome.

Take the tailgate off. Then floor the truck.

Seriously though, I think we used some 4*4s when I helped my Dad with his gun safes.

Put the 4*4s as ramps and then use one in the middle to "lever" the safe down slowly. Having some extra hands present will help a ton.

I agree with Dewey though, to hell with screwing around with a bunch of stuff that can crush you.

Put it on dollies and use a roll back wrecker to get it on the ground. When we had CT's delivered to the hospital that was always the way we loaded and unloaded them...it's normally not that expensive either.

Its going to cost about 300 for the "experts" to deliver, just trying to see if there is an easier way to do it and save a few bucks. The damn safe is over 2K to begin with

My safe weighs about 600lbs and I got it out of my pick up and up a flight of stairs with the help of 3 friends.

Hire the professional....fucktryingtocarryaheavyasssafe

An engine hoist has a chance of working but it is a lot scarier when you see 930lbs swinging in the air over the back of your truck. You will need nylon slings to lift it, either set the safe on them when you load the truck or use 4x4s in the bed. Also, if you do engine hoist it out just lift it straight up then drive the truck out from underneath so you don't tip the whole thing over.
