Very nice. I have always wanted an 8.1, just fuel mileage scared me away. I think you have proven the 8.1's potential well. What mpg do you normally see on the highway at 65-70mph?

 

Very nice, I wish I didn't cheap out on the 1/2 ton for towing duty.

 

12 if I kicked it up to 80 I could get 13mpg.

ya John the 8.1 was an option in these trucks, i think they started it in 00-01 and they stopped just this passed year

thats cause they dont make the 8.1 anymore for them trucks, it was the last big block of its kinda offered in any pickup truck if i remember correctly

I know that the 8.1 was an option, but in his sig one of the trucks has 8.2 there, only place I can recall the 8.2 being a option is in marine apps. So am a lil .

i think he punched to over .010

 

It was punched .030 over making it a 503 cid.

As for the milage a friend of mine has one with 373 gears, 285-75-16's He drives normal and gets 12.5-12.8 mpg per tank of gas.
