Man on verge of putting millionth mile on his 1991 truck

MEDFORD, Wis.— Frank Oresnik is on the verge of making history driving his old standby — the pickup truck he says is about to pass the 1 million mile mark.

Oresnik took the 1991 Chevrolet Silverado to the Oil Ex-Change Quick Lube in Medford on Thursday for what he expects will be its last oil change and tuneup before hitting the magic number.

He said the truck is 1,200 miles from a million, and once he hits the mark he will retire the vehicle.

"I feel almost like the longtime NFL player as he goes into his last training camp knowing this is the end," Oresnik said.

He credits proper maintenance and a good measure of luck for allowing the truck to rack up so many miles. He said he's had more than 300 oil changes and tuneups at the Medford business, going in every 3,000 miles.

The truck has had four radiators, three gas tanks, five transmissions and six water pumps, but the engine has never been overhauled, Oresnik said.

He bought the Silverado in June 1996 after the original owner put 41,000 miles on it. Oresnik uses the vehicle to deliver seafood in three states, putting on about 85,000 miles a year.

 

yup, It had to be a Chevy... no other truck can do that... lol.

 

THere is a guy that comes into my shop every coupl of months and trades some stuff with us for an oil change and a couple little things and he has had well over a million miles on his little datsun pickup for a while now..

Oh he is some kind of traveling salesman or something for some toilet paper company.

 

HaHa thats awesome, i hope Chevy hears about this and gives him a new.

I believe that my girls dad has a little datsun truck aswell with an assload of miles and it still runs pretty good just has tranny issues.

5 transmission and not one engine....wakey wakey GM....

 

Few years ago I worked at a oil change/tire shop in Chicago and did alot of the taxi cabs in the city, most where old police cars that are Chevy Caprices. It was fairly common to see 800,000+ miles on them.

 

Thats impressive they should give him something to recognize that mark. Most likely nope.

I'm pushing a 1/4 million in my '02, currently have 214k miles and all original. Only replaced brake pads, belt, belt tensioner, fuel pump, alternator, battery, plugs, wires, and tires. Still on the original tranny, G80, rotors, and even the shocks.

Only Chevy!!!
