I haven't ever built a shop or garage, but all the guys I know who have done it always say they wish they made it bigger. My little 24 by 24 two car has an actual storage attic on top which is really handy.

Building it with 2x4 studs would be fine, but if you built it with 2x8s you could insulate it a lot heavier, and it'd support a second storey if you ever wanted to do that in the future.

My garage only had 4 plugins when I bought it. I had an electrician buddy come in and wire in a 120 amp service panel, and it's been great! I can wire in lights and plugins if I ever decide I want more. The conduits on the wall also give a nice spot to hang stuff.

And my last thought, drywall looks cool, but the painted plywood on the inside if my garage is a lot more forgiving. Good luck with the build.
