Default Looking for Truck Suggestions

Hi All, new to the forum and wanted to get all your opinions on different options I could go for getting a truck. I am specifically looking for 3 things: 4wd/awd, decent towing capacity, and a good platform for performance mods. I am currently looking at the new Ford maverick as a good option but wanted to see what I might be overlooking. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Anything new most likely is going to be a crap platform for performance mods. What exactly are you thinking about doing?

I just want something to be reasonably fast and fun while also still having the functionality. I recently moved out to the midwest and my 2013 mustang 5.0 is fun but not practical at all for towing jetskis or the snow. Im ok with it not being on the same level but having something reasonably be in 4~5s 0-60 with some decent power would be nice to aim for.

Dude are you trolling?

A) the maverick isn't a truck, it's an escape

B) it's terrible at everything you listed, ESPECIALLY the "fast and modifiable" part 😂😂

You're familiar with the 5.0, get a pre-2020 5.0 F150 and call it a day

2023 Colorado? 7,700 lbs towing, First year with 2.7L turbo, 310hp 430 lb ft, probably going to take a couple years, but should be cheap and easy in the near future to get some decent power out of that. . $30K vs 80K... We need more details.. Are you trying to stick with Ford?

While the maverick might not be a "real" truck its functionally that. Also it being pretty light (~3700lbs) and cheap its not a bad option to get some bolts on and a tune to make the little 2.0L truck get into the 5s 0-60s.

And I do like the option of the Colorado just dont know if its worth the price atm like you said. Im looking to stick around 35k or less and im not stuck with ford. I know trucks are more expensive these days but a cheaper option that could be build out with mods would be fun too, Im just not super knowledgeable in the truck realm.

The Maverick might not be a "true" truck but it is effectively practicality-wise. Its also pretty light (~3700lbs) and cheap so its not a bad option. With some bolts on a tune can make it into the 5s 0-60 no prob. And I do like the option of the Colorado just dont know if its worth the price atm like you said.
