why not get rid of the impala fwd pos and call the new Chevy version the Impala and make it a real car like it used to be?

Ya, when I heard Caprice, I thought why not Impala. Then the light came on in my headDuh! Cause they already use that name. So I thought, call the current FWD Impala whatever...& as u said, name the G8 as Impala SS.

Face it, for most of the 70's-90's, a Caprice was an older person's car. The cop spec was ok. The '94-'96 Impala SS did it justice. But those 2 instances aside, a real Caprice was before I was born & had a BBC. Like say427!!!
