Thats over as soon as you get in it...
Have you called and asked your MIL What she would like to ride in???
The thing I don't like about the Cadillac CTS 3.6 was the engine... I replaced an engine on one that had a cam gear break around 80K miles. Apparently after talking with the owner It's one of the weak spots on those vehicles.
Up side was that it was easy if you have a 2 post lift. The whole cradle drops out of the bottom with the engine/tranny combo.
Do a little more research on the mechanicals of all the vehicles your looking at before you make an actual purchase.

Yes, What you heard on the DI motors is true.
A friend of mine says another car company is having the same issue.
I believe they are going to add a normal injector before the valve's to use to wash down the intake path. This should help with the carbon build up.
As of now, they have seen engines with as little as 30K miles need to have the heads removed to clean the carbon build up.

The G8 is a roomy car that's just a couple bolt ons and tune from being pretty quick. Some of the main issues, with some of them, is the lifters from the DOD going out and taking some things with it, that and the front control arms going out, which can be replaced with a new updated part, replacing the cradle bushings also helps a lot with the body roll of the car. But other than that it is a pretty good car that's roomy and is actually a really good bargain for the price you can get them right now. Check out GRRRR8 net for more information on them.
