I guess the Engine in your vehicle doesn't use spark plugs and an ignition? It cant convert the chemical (gas) without the electricity (spark) to form the mechanical energy, so it can be either one cant it?

I say both, but I try to avoid saying motor.

"Rims" is a huge pet peeve of mine. They're not rims. They're wheels. A wheel HAS a rim, but so does a soup bowl. You don't call a soup bowl a rim, do you?

Therefor, you have an ENGINE in your truck, not a motor unless you are driving a tesla roadster or something.
I have to agree with Atomic and having the word engineering in my title on my diploma makes me want to put an end to this and fast

summarized out of my engineering books
ENGINE - device for transforming fuel or heat energy into mechanical energy.
MOTOR - device for transforming electricity produced by a generator driven by a engine or another source of electricity into mechanical energy
