Didn't think of you as that young Scott, idk why
I agree with the miata suggestion... spend a 4k on a miata then swap an ls1 in, fantastic fun.
Or just drive the miata and do work on the suspension so it is very sporty feeling.

They're fun cars to drive. My brother in law has one (who also happens to be an ex navy seal so the gay jokes don't apply) has paddle shifters so it makes it fun to zip around town. Ive stretched its legs up to around 140 before. Its a fun little car
When they get moved back here, we'll be putting an ls2 setup in it

I know the feeling of wanting something new, but your truck was pretty bad *** when you were driving it. And even if it is only worth 6 grand in great shape, it's worth less than nothing if you're not driving it. Think of how much your folks paid for it, plus the price you paid for all the speed parts, then put a negative sign in front of that. That's what it's worth.
My first thought would be to put a 6 speed in it. Then it's everything you want in a car, costs about 7 grand less, and you can haul **** with it. Can't do that with a Camaro.
If you don't like that idea, I think Miatas, Mustangs, 350Zs, F Bodies, and all the other suggestions are good. Can't go too wrong with any of those. Another idea, just for kicks, how about a mid 80s G body like a Cutlass, Regal, or Monte Carlo? They're about 3500 pounds stock, comfy, parts are common, and you could probably find one near free. And if you wanted a project you could swap the engine and harness out of your truck, have a 3200 pound, 400hp sleeper that got could mileage, then part out your truck to cover the cost of the car. I'm guessing you won't do that, but it's an idea. I love those cars.

Hmm looking at some miatas on craiglist and they're actually pretty damn nice looking. Interiors look really nice, plus it looks like a car built to handle on the track. I'd deff like to test drive one to see how it feels.
