I should have gotten a 4wd
Riding around friday night on the farm shining for hogs and critters i just so happen to find the only sink hole in 1500acres.
Front tires went in and so did the front bumper. Back driver tire was off the ground.
Got pulled out and went straight to my buddys house and went to sleep before anything else went wrong.
Ended up goin hog hunting at another place saturday morning and all the roads were under water from this rain we got. Ended up gettin water in my floor boards from goin to the swamp. Looked like two jetskis coming out of there from the water and mud from the tires. Some where above 100mph and she never stopped.
I cant wait to get the samurai goin again. It will be alot easier on my poor truck.

If only I had the time to share all of my stories of getting stuck. Two summers back we got a truck, two tractors, and a dozer all stuck in the woods on my Pop's land out behind his house. It can turn into a mess, quick. Doesn't look like you got in too much of a bind, though.

That soft stuff is something else for anything near 2.5 tons with streetable tires. Though sometimes I wish I had done 2" leveling up front and a/ts on my 2wd daily driver rather than drop it

Mines bone stock with 265/65/17 hankook AT/M's. Ive always wanted to lift it about 4" and put some decent tires under it cause its off road on the weekends more than its on the road.
Only bad thing is even if i had a winch the only thing i could have hooked to was some trees about 150' to my direct left.
I think ill just get back to redoin the samurai so ill atleast have a chance.

Yeah, I have a buddy who went into marsh **** in his jeep on 33's, alone. His big *** winch just hurt him for weight, nothing to hook to. Lots of rocking it and praying got him out. My experience on bikes and side by sides makes me hate mud, but sometimes you don't know its there..

You would've been stuck even with a 4wd. Atleast you didn't get stuck in your own yard
Well I didn't actually get stuck, just couldn't get back to where I wanted rutted up my damn yard. In my experience, 4wd isn't very useful in mud unless you've got some meaty'er tires that with some wheelspeed will clean out. I really like the toyo mts for an all around good tire.
If you do put a winch on your samurai, I recommend going to the army surplus store and getting a bundle of their 500' 1/2" rope, its rated for a couple thousand pounds and is good enough to anchor to a tree far away and get some tension with your winch. Most of the times I've been stuck I just needed a little nudge, and the rope is enough to work.
This also works well in a pinch
