Probably your S-Video is an input on the laptop. You need an S-Vid output. I dont think I have a video out on my laptop, I will have to check it tonight, it's a pos Sony Viao

YOU CAN ALWAYS GO TO LIKE RADIO SHACK OR CIRCUIT CITY AND JUST GET THE CABLE THAT IS A HEADPHONE LOOKIN CONNECTION ON ONE SIDE AND THE AUDIO RCA RED/WHITE CABLES ON THE OTHER

I tried using the cable your referring too from my video camera which is a headphone jack on one end and red/white and yellow on the other end but that didn't work, wrong video source. Can't be on the VGA input and AV3 at the same time. There's a dedicated audio input but it has a funky jack on it that I've never seen. I tried sticking something in and it works but because it's not the right size if you don't hold it in manually it falls out. That was a very complicated way of saying I need to get another plug.
