Default I may be a little crazy but...

I'm going to build a jet powered go-kart. For my 2 year old daughter. HopefullyI can draw on the knowledge that floats around this site. Maybe this can turn into a "how to" when its all done.

Here's the base ideas that I'd like to incorporate, although I am totally open to change for increases in safety, reliability, performance and all around "cool factor" reasons.

homemade turbojet engine.
probably a twin setup into one large combustor (or two smaller ones, which ever provides more thrust.
fuel - propane would be easy (from the pressurized and ignition aspects) but significantly less safe than kerosene or diesel.

here is the awesome resource that got me thinking...
Sal's DIY Home Built Jet Engine / Gas Turbine Jet Motorcycle Project

please chime in questions, comments, whatever.

LOL kinda crazy for your daughter, would be a fun project for yourself though. If you want something more reliable and still fast try finding a crotch rocket motor from the local junkyard and put it on a go-kart. (cbr 600 engines are not too hard to find) You can use the go-kart until she gets big enough to drive it around, or you could take her for a ride. When she gets bigger and if you tell her to keep it in 1st gear, its still gonna haul ***.

btw I would have some kind of go-kart with roll bars on it too. I think my idea is still crazy for a young boy/girl, but a jet powered go-kart is more crazy lol.

I've got a six-year old sister (HUGE age difference), but no kids. But I can't possibly imagine how you would justify even buying a regular go-kart for a child under like seven, much less one with a jet engine. But hell, what do I know?

Yeah, I know its a little crazy to have a two year old in a jet kart. Personally, I'll build the damn thing to boil water for coffee in the morning, just have to have an excuse for some unknown reason. Should be an interesting build, who knows where I can get a pair of matching diesel turbos (unusable for original application) for cheap?

03 blackoutsss I built a homemade turbo jet engine out of a holset turbo for a cummins diesel. I got the turbo from a tractor trailer repair shop that went under. My turbo had a blown oil seal on the exhaust side, but works fine and was free. Everyone would ask me why, and well I have to say "to see if I could". look around this website, he is very good and made some interesting engines.
