i'm a robotics installation engineer, specifically automotive paint applications. earlier this year we put a new paint system in a GM plant where they build small cars for these Indians, the guy supporting this project had some vaca time, so he went to thailand for a couple weeks and i'm just supporting in the meantime. unfortunately there's another job coming up mid december in northern India near Pakistan and he's tryin to get me to come on board that job with him. i'm slated to do a job in Kentucky for 3 months during that time but he can trump me since i have an indian visa good for 180 days. little does he know i have another job offer making better money and staying more local (supposedly). if he gets me on that project i'm gonna take the other job. i don't much care for it here.
although, there are wild monkey gangs that hang out on rooftops and break into cars and steal ****, so thats kind of cool. haven't seen them yet, but it would make this trip that much better!

I would love to have a job that took me away from home (there's a joke in there) and India I find very fascinating. Diverse culture and culinary styles, maybe not for everyone but I get a kick out of the differences in cultures.
Take and post some more pics! I'd be a bit nervous about being near Pakistan (there's a war going on no?).
Start a new thread and post up a bunch of pics. I want to see some weird food too!

well i'll tell ya what, traveling like this has its ups and its downs, like anything else. unique thing about being here is more people speak english than did in korea or china. but its hard to understand as you would know if you've ever had to call customer service anywhere.
i've been pretty fortunate to see several different cultures, but i'll tell ya what, it gets damn lonely. a lot of the guys i work with end up marrying asian broads and they just go with them on jobs, that sounds allright but i dont want to curse my offspring with a small *****. i'll make sure to take some more pictures, but for now, here's a little tent city.
usually i see shanty towns, which are pretty unique, but this i happened to catch on the side of the road on the way to a meeting earlier today. also a picture of the rickshaw taxi cabs:
