I would like to upgrade from a very basic liability policy to liabilty with comprehensive, just to cover deer hits or a hit and run driver because of the ice, it happens. I am with Farm Bereau Insurance, I asked my brother and he is with a different company i am going to check them out as soon as I can.

you shouldn't have to switch companies unless you just want to. adding comprehensive has nothing to do with performance parts.
get the quote again and have the dudes boss look at it. a stock truck has nothing to do with performance so he's effing up somewhere.

Moved thread to Truck Stop from Dyno Section.

FWIW, I've had 9 different insurance companies over the last 11 years. Check out your options elsewhere, there's always a place to get a better deal.

I have State Farm and when I asked about covering additional parts (performance, stereo, exterior, whatever...) she said just to take a bunch of pictures to document that it was on the car. Doesn't cost anything extra. Also, this is in a smaller town where most people know most other people and my family has been with them for as long as I can remember and we've never filed a claim.

What does your driving record look like? Sounds like the insurance guy pushed the wrong button somewhere.

I have no tickets on my record, I want to add comp to cover deer collision, and stuff that is out of my control, not because of added parts. My liabilaty is 110 a month it is the most basic insurance they have, my brother is with State Farm and his full coverage is 108 a month. I am going to see them hopefully on monday.

Where are you located? That can be an issue as well. But I pay 120 a month, full coverage on the Silverado, liability on the dodge ram, and a 50k life. Through State Farm. Btw i am under 25 as well. You can be 18-24... You fall in the same bracket. Above 25 you get mature/experience drivers discount. Shop around man. I am also in the San Francisco Bay area, which has higher rates on everything.

where he's located has nothing to do with a "High performance surcharge". It's obvious the guy just screwed up.
It does make a difference on the rate but not that surcharge.

there should be no "high performance surcharge" on a truck.

i have Allstate, im 24 with 4 speeding tickets and a DWI on my record and pay $83/mo for full coverage with a $500 deductible for my truck.

Yea, I've never heard of that...makes sense on a Vette, but not a truck that the insurance co. is under the impression that it's stock...
