Got a puppy

Thanks for the tips guys, if he is going to be mostly an outside dog (except during adverse weather or temps of course) should I still crate train him? If so, should his crate be outside under my patio or should i put him in the house?

Keep in mind the Houston weather . . . and this being his first summer

Me personally I see no point in having a dog if you arent going to have him as part of the family. Where my dog is at right now while typing this post.

I started crate/potty training my dog as soon as I got him(10 weeks old). After about 6 months he knew his routine. Only time he gets pissed about being in there is when Im home and dont let him out which is only when I run in real quick for something. My dog is always with me when Im home and I try to take him as many places as possible, you'd be amazed how great a companion they can be.

Thanks for the tips and help. I spend as much time with him as possible once I'm back from work. I have him outside in a 12x12 ft fenced kennel with his dog house and food in it while I'm gone (there is a tarp over the portion where his dog house is for shade). I have three roommates who don't want a dog in the house, that's the reason he has to stay outside. However, I take him all over the place. To the park, to my sisters house to play with her dogs (Jack Russell) and he gets to interact with a lot of people who come over. I hope all the socialization will help him out as he gets older.
You guys have some beautiful pits! My Amstaff's bloodlines are Surestaff, Blumombo and Sooner. I have no idea what all that means other than he's supposed to be healthy and have good genetics lol.

keep this in mind if you're planning on keeping him outside
