I never understood the obession people have with "it costs me XX to fill up a tank". Does it really even matter. If you get the same mpg as the other guy but have twice the size tank... you still are paying the same $$/mile., you just have to fork over more cash less often.
Say a Diesel guy gets 18mpg and it costs $4.10 a gallon so thats 4.10/18= $.2278 a mile
Say a gas guy gets 14 mpg and it costs $3.70 a gallon of premium so thats 3.70/14= $.264 a mile
Yet the diesl guy has a 35gal tank = $143.5
and the gas guy has a 26gal tank = $92.5
So yea the diesel guy has to pay more a tank, but for a given distance he pays less..

I don't remember .36/gal gas but I do remember coming back to the states in the mid 90's and gas was around $1.00 a gallon. I thought that was pretty affordable compared to the $3.00 a gallon prices in Europe. The prices now definitely are not affordable but yet we still have to buy the crap no matter how much it costs.
