Default Finding cheap project trucks?

How cheap have any of you seen early GMT-800 with clean bodies and interiors but mechanical problems (bad engine, transmission, etc) go for? I'm thinking about getting back into a 99-02 as a project, but my budget for buying the truck is pretty low (around $1000). Trying to get an idea if I'm being realistic.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find one, even in rough shape, for under 3k. Maybe you could get lucky and find a w/t with a blown motor, but they're mostly long beds and the good body plan goes out the window on most trucks actually used for work. GL man.

Im not sure they would be quite that low. I also havent seen too many broke trucks when I was looking, it appears they typically fix them to sell and move on.

Auction prices on wrecked units around here can be in the 1800 range depending on what you are looking for. Also 6cyl w/t are cheaper than the v8 trucks even with blown motors obviously. 1k will be hard to find a suitable truck that you wouldn't have to spend a fortune on. I would be happy to keep a eye open for ya though. Never know.

I don't know what gmt800 is, but I bought my 97 regular cab v6 with 130,000 miles for $1500. Runs and drives great, straight body. They're out. Buddy of mine bought a 2000 gmc with no tranny but a good motor for $2000.

NBS in forum garbage lingo. Your 97 is a OBS or properly a GMT400.

I've been on the lookout for a 03-06 GMC or chevy RCSB 2wd for awhile now.
Originally I wanted a 4wd but I changed my mind. I'm looking for something under 100k miles in white or red ONLY dark interior,at least 4.8 and power everthing cruise ect ect...

I've got an 06' spotted with 68k miles that's everything I've been looking for but the dealers bottom dollor supposidly is $11,700 and that's what book shows it for full retail.

Hmmm....sounds like I'll either have to put this plan on hold for a bit or increase my budget. I guess we'll see how much the tax man wants to give back next year.
