Default Engine shipping?

I got a deal pending for an engine I'm selling. I know the weight is about 400-500lbs and will likely be at least 2' x 2' x3', probably bigger.

The only quote I got was fedex who wants like $1500... wtf. I know you can get them shipped for a hundred or two. Whats the trick?
