My buddy had one burn to the ground while he was cruising at 65mph... Those trucks are plagued with problems. You're lucky yours is repairable....
It got so hot, it melted a .45 in the center console...

I got luck mine didnt burn when i bought it , the catalytic converter went bad on mine and melted the heat shield . I smelled somthing burning and caught it on time . The dealer removed the burnt shield and said they were on backorder , they never callled me back to go get the part installed.

Wow that's fuked up . Damn fords 
I really do cheer on them and dodge though because they are American , but they still don't hold a candle to a good GM . And yes I know none of them are perfect .

True that. It's really hard to beat these ls engines. Twin turbos on a v6 isn't bright to begin with.

It really is too bad Ford cant get their **** together powertrain wise, they make a damn nice truck otherwise. Blown 6.2 LS engine and in a platinum edition crew cab ford would make me buy a new truck. The fact the ecoboost (only engine I'm interested in) is having difficulties and isnt returning the fuel mileage they should is what has kept me in my midget crew cab. My dads 09 is so much nicer than mine, the engine just sucks

I hate this stuff too. I want to go Fords for company rigs as I really like the trucks as well. I won't even look at that 2014+ GM contraption or Dodge after dealing with them. Stuck with big 3 for service availability so limited choices. Probably just buy the 6.2 F150 instead. The Ecoboost could be great if they actually did some r and d on it first lol.

The little part in my brain that was raised to hate Ford's is always a little happy to hear of things like this, but the inner gearhead inside is sad to see nice people waste money on , what is otherwise, a very nice truck. I even like the look of the newer models, especially the Raptors without the giant FORD grille and graphics.
I have always hated the 4.6/5.4L motors in them though and this ecoboost sounds even worse.

I wish that one day GM overtakes Ford's dominance if only for one year in truck sales, just so I don't have to hear Ford people brag about how they've outsold everyone for 25+ years in a row or however long it's been.
