everything is offered with a diesel option in the UK. I have no idea why they dont offer diesels here. I think VW and Mercedes are the only ones offering diesel cars in the states

I vote for the Volt!! I always wanted one but ended up with a TDI golf which was a pretty good DD and gave me great gas mileage. So what are you getting?

Spoolin',

Are you happy with your Golf? I thought about getting a TDI Jetta.

I went and looked at a Volt at a semi-local dealership (closest dealership to have a Volt on the lot), and I really like the car. Something about hardly ever having to put gas in the car is awesome. The interior is nice, also, so I can't complain. I don't really need the extra room, but the car is nice--retail is over $40K on most models, with decent options. I'm just going to have to think it all out. The Audi A3 diesels are very nice, too. There's just a lot to think about, and I can never decide on anything. Time will tell.

I was very happy with it, I couldn't of been happier with it, however when I got my truck back up and running I didnt need two cars so I sold the golf for exactly one thousand dollars less than I paid for it new. The car averaged 40mpg in combined driving and I used it to tow around a motorcycle trailer all the time. I didnt have one complaint about it. And the aftermarket for those cars is very enticing.

Don't forget the tax credit that you get when buying a volt. I think it's around $7500 unless it changed. So the price of it should be around 32,500. I really want the volt to do well but because it's more expensive than the Prius it hasn't done as well. It's a great car from what I've read though.

If I was going for fuel econ, I'd definitely rock the diesel golf IMO.
