Try renaming the file extension to .mpg. Sounds crazy but a .mod file is a mpeg2 based file, just proprietary.
If you have Vista and can't see the extensions, you will need to get 3 governement agencies permission and a waiver from Microsoft's General manager AND director of program structure and then inside Windows Vista, you’re going to have to turn on file extensions. While inside an explorer window, click on “Organize” then select “Folder and Search Options”. A “Folder Options” window will open, click on the “View” tab. On the “View” tab, about 10 items down, there is an option “Hide extensions for known file types” – you want to make sure that this box is unchecked.
Return to windows explorer where your .MOD files are, select the file you want to rename to .MPG, press “F2″ and change the .MOD extension to .MPG.
If that doesn't work, call their tech line and tell them you are 2 seconds from bashing their product on a hundred product review forums online unless they tell you how to convert it FREE.
