Kind of looking into that career field whenever I graduate with a degree in Fire Protection and Safety Technology from Oklahoma State. Technically a dual major and is very very broad. I'm leaning towards safety/health/hygiene though, probably somewhere in the oilfield with companies like Oxy, BP, Exxon etc etc...
Just kinda looking for some more info in and some of what all that you do. I can listen to people at the university talk about it all day, but i wanna hear some from people that actually are in the career field. Feel free to post here or PM me

Im not in it but being a construction inspector Ive met quite a few of them and they seem to like it. Just be prepared to move if you dont get on with a large company that has a good foothold in a given city. Pretty decent money it too, especially if you get all the OSHA certs.

I work construction also and you need the OSHA stuff which take another year or 2 IIRC..
I know most jobs i work on safety cats make anywhere from 28-36 hour + perdiem if you travel...
When is your schooling over???

I'm a freshman this year. A lot of the certifications and such go right along with our degree plan. Whenever you graduate after 4 years, you should have everything you need for the most part. I know a few guys that are going to be graduating this coming spring going to OXY drilling and one going to Y12 nuclear facility

I know the area I work is always hiring people straight out of college making pretty decent money. But I've seen a lot of them come and go. Not sure about construction but the oilfield isn't the safest place for a long time job, just ask half my friends, half of those with degrees. Just choose wisely.
