any ase or certifed ford techs on here?

My first advise would be to run like hell! I know plenty of techs that are beat up from doing this line of work. It is really hard on your body and if I had to redo it over again I think I would have choose a different field. Me I love to cook so that might have been what I would have went into! Then again I loved wrenching and racing when I was young and well here I am building transmissions for a living. The issue for me is the hobby became a profession and well the hobby is gone.
I would have to think that your FIL owning a couple of dealers would be a great in for you. Not sure if I would be worried about what Ford is going to do for you if your FIL owns the dealer! I think these would be good questions to ask the man himself and see what he has to say. I will say one thing here. Working with friends and family can be ruff depending on the situation. It has been my experience that it normally works only 25% of the time and if things go bad it wrecks relationships! So keep this in mind if you decide to go this route. Best of luck with your decision. Vince
thanks guys for the help. my father inlaw owns a couple ford dealerships and has mentioned to me many times he wishes i was a ford tech and told me he would start me at $20. i talked to him this morning and he said he would sponsor me for work/training/school program. does ford take care of its employees? im unemployed now and i would prefer not to put my family though this again.
