ok here is the deal, i have owned my truck for about 6yrs and since then i have taken out the old drivetrain and replace about 1 yr ago, but lately i have grown tired of it (at least 6mths). I'm really really wanting to go faster so im looking to get into a tbss of g8 gt model, im currently putting together a ls1 swapped 1st gen s10 to be a daily because right now my current truck is my daily/toy. just dont know what to do.. my current truck is in the sig below

"Cost effective" and "turbo" dont go well together, regardless of what the internet says. A nice procharger, whipple, or maggie would be way easier for a DD type of vehicle. Even though the upfront cost looks higher its actually better in the long run.

what's your definition of fast? if you actually want to go fast, don't do it with a full size. I had a ecsb heads/cam/nitrous 5.7 LS1 Silverado that went a best of 7.43 @93 to the 1/8 on a 150 hit. my s10 went 6.80@101 with a 6.0 on low timing short shifting. I think I could have put that truck into the 6.6x range before ever grabbing the nitrous.

That's my advice anyways. it can be done with a truck, but with a lot more money and broken parts

I sold my full size RC 6.0/4l80 and got a RC Colorado (not getting rid of it) and had plans but I just got to missing the full size so I bought the '14. Very happy with boost. Its never fast enough but fast enough to be a lot of fun. My nephew has a 63 Nova 434 with a bottle. Feels like 6.0x-6 teens on motor. Pretty scary on the street. Fast is relative.
