Default ? about towing

Alright guys bear with me for a second as what Im about to ask maybe a dumb question. Im active duty military and will be moving from San Diego to Virginia Beach. I have been tossing around the idea of shipping my wifes car( Toyota Camry) or throwing it on a dolly and just towing it. Ive never towed anything this far before and was wondering what long term effects this could possibly have on my truck. My truck is an 05 Z71 with a CAI and a magnaflow catback. Like I said it may be a dumb question but Im losing sleep over it because I just cant seem to justify paying someone 1k to ship this car. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Did your truck come with a tow package? If so, I believe they already have a transmission cooler.

your truck is probably rated to tow 7000+ lbs and at the most you'll be around 5,000. won't be a problem at all.

Just watch your speed with a tow dolley. I have been spun around with one, and I pull alot of trailers. I wasn't even doing the speed limit, it was more related to the car then the dolley however. You might be better off to spend the extra for the car hauler trailer from Uhaul. They pull nice and don't wiggle as much.
