also, there was a worker in one of the jap nuclear power plants that forgot to record the information on one of the fuel rods and he decided it was a good idea to put something clear on the end of a peice of PVC pipe or something and use that to look thru the water and get closer to the fuel rod.. great idea except water is the insulator for the radiation.. guy fell over dead before he even got close to the Fuel Rods..

Obama didn't have anything to do with that did he? Trying to see if it's possible to get one positive comment out of you about that guy!

There's just not much good to say about that man, sorry. He brews his own beer and supports nuclear energy, that's about all I like about that talking puppet. Too bad his other policies on energy are totally idiotic. Subsidizing wind and solar was one of the dumbest things ever, he could've used that to do government subsidized loans for new nuclear construction and made a lot more clean energy per tax payer dollar. If you want to get a glimpse into the effects of that man's idiotic economic policies you need look no further than your state.

A little off topic, but what do the plants that have discharge lakes do to clean the water? We have a lake here in VA that has a fresh public side, and a private (discharge) side of the lake that the nuclear plant is on. The private side has houses on it and fishing/boating/swimming.

I live about 10 miles away from a plant that is located on the river. It uses the river water to cool the reactor. The water comes in, and goes back out. Nothing anymore special about the water that comes out than the water that goes in.

Could have a cooling loop for the reactor, then the fresh water cools a heat exchanger in the loop. Could be full of ***** though.
