Indeed they are in the price range. Or even a 2002 Corvette.

If I were building one of the cars on that list it would be a 05/06 GTO 6spd. Love the interiors on them (especially the impulse blue ones with the blue interior). The LS2 has a pretty stout bottom end and a good flowing top end in stock form. Full bolt-ons and a TVS2300 with a 8lb pulley will put you in mid 500s

I got my g8 gt for $25.

If it were me, I'd try to find a ls2 vette.

A G8 GT would be a great option. Boltons and tune and your good to go IMO. I would suggest an LS2 vette, but I think you mentioned them being too low.

Lol, I need to add a "K" to that 25.

Mine runs pretty fkn strong. Its faster than my silverado. I wouldn't call it highly modded by any means. I just hate the 6 spd transmission.

im actually now STRONGLY considering a 2006-07 SRT8 300C. I have fell in love with them. I Love the 4 doors, very nice with every creature comfort youd want plus at 425 hp stock with sport suspension and big brembos...I think i can handle that. Ive test driven a 2010 mustang, it was a 4.6 gt tho. I wouldnt care even it was a 5.0 with 100 mor ehorses. the car was too tight inside. not really what i need. Wont be practical.

Anyone have any info for the SRT8 that i need to know before pulling the trigger? BTW I dont plan to mod it much. Ive kinda changed gears a bit. No need for 500+ HP daily, maybe later ill charge it or something but a few bolts ons and a tune will get her where i want for a daily grocery getting sedan.

Also looked into a G8 GT this weekend same place as the SRT8 300 as well as a SRT8 charger(identical to the 300 just different body panels lol). The G8 is a nice car but I honestly dont like the interior and I still feel like they are overpriced for what they are, although it did have the ls2.

The vette isnt really an option although id LOVE a 99 or so Z06. My fiance cant get down into very low cars not to mention i also have some spinal issues something like this would aggravate and without a rear seat AT ALL, it just wont be practical. Trust me ive found several SICK vettes for deals on the Tech but i just cant justify it.
