Question Wrong Transmission Shifter on an '07 TBSS

Just got my '07 TBSS. I noticed that when I put the transmission shifter in "D" it would take longer than usual to engage into drive. I also noticed that it wouldn't go into 1st when I manually shifted the lever. I took it back to the service department and they looked at it. They said it seems that the factory put an AWD shifter on my two-wheel driver TBSS, and that is what is causing the problem.
TBSS is down for a week pending the arrival and installation of the correct part. Has anyone experienced this problem or heard of it happening?

I wouldn't have thought there would be a difference. I believe they are cable operated.

The cable is adjustable at the bracket. Sounds like it's off a bit. I cannot understand what difference there could be between AWD and 2WD.

IDK why there would be a difference. I would think that they would all be the same to save $$. If it is the wrong one, that's dumb that it got mixed up.

The shifter linkaga needs adjusting. I had to do it on mine. I lost 1st gear because the cable was too tight and did not allow it to go into gear. Did some adjusting and now fixed.

There is no difference in the shifters on the AWD vs. 2WD. Your dealer unfortunately was throwing you a line....

Default Problem fixed. Updated information.

Per the service manager the problem had to do with a bushing on the shifter cable. For some reason this bushing was cracked and that affected the way the cable moved when shifted. They changed out the shifter and the cable and everything is normal now.
