06 Trailblazer SS Mods
Hi there, I have recently purchased a 2006 trailblazer ss 2 wheel drive. I really like this thing, just wondering if anybody could tell me what would be the best mods to do to increase gas mileage. I would like to put electric fans on it and get that big a$$ fan and electric clutch off of it. Just wondering if anybody has done this or knows of a kit to do it ? Just wondering if I could tie into the wiring that operates the electric clutch on the fan ? I am also not afraid to go into the engine if i have to. The truck is all stock for now. But I have a set of yella terra 1.7 rockers that I may install also. Just looking for a little help or input. Thanks, Mike

You will need a patch in the tune to make the fans operate... start here..
Trailblazer SS performance Upgrades SS Shootout
Lots, lots of helpful info here and a good starting point. IMO almost pointless to crack those valve covers and slap 1.7's on vs. whats already in there. Hold off until you cam it if you go that route.

There are alot of options, First I would say CAI an a Tune with the E Fans and if you want you could wire the fan to come on with the key, You will gain alot just by doing that, I gained MPGs and dropped about 1.5 sec. in the 1/4 mile... Dont neuter the TBSS by pulling the 4.10s out.... If you wanted good gas milage you shouldve bought a cobalt.

You have the right idea about getting rid of the belt driven fan. I did all the mods in my sig just a couple of weeks ago. Mpg's went up about 2 in town, haven't been able to get a legit highway test yet. I bought all of my stuff from PCMforless. Best service I have ever had. Leave the gears and suck it up on the fuel price. A tune, efans, and air intake will make a noticeable difference on how it runs and shifts.
