i was headin back from tx a few weeks ago and was pulling about 4K behind the ss drivin about 80mph and the trans got rather cold.it got down to this temp after about 20 miles of driving......good?....bad?....thoughts............ .......

I would get the heat up a little, to at least 130. When you added the cooler, did you completely bypass the radiator? If so I would consider putting the external cooler in series with the factory air/water ATF cooler, to put some heat back into the ATF. My trans always grips/shifts best at a temp of 155-160. I would not worry about the shifting if you are using synthetic ATF, but regular Dexron-III does not flow right at those temps.
